Kokua Ka’ahele O Maui

Spreading Ohana from Seattle to Maui

December 2023

During the Summer of 2023, upon learning about the Maui fire caused by Hurricane Dora, our local Seattle community rallied together. Through collective efforts, we successfully fundraised $10,000 with the intention of aiding those directly impacted by the disaster. Determined to make a meaningful impact, we organized a trip to Maui to explore how we could directly assist with this donation.

Alika Seki, the head of Maui Comic-Con, recommended Kokua Ka’ahele to us. Thanks to his suggestion, we collaborated with this local organization that shares our mission to aid those impacted by the Maui fire.

Kokua Ka’ahele O Maui

Kokua Ka’ahele O Maui is a grassroots organization that emerged the morning after August 8th, 2023. Operated entirely by volunteers, the organization relies on 100% donations, fundraising efforts, partnerships, and sponsors.

Their primary focus is on supporting survivors of the Maui fire who have lost their homes or been displaced. Kokua Ka’ahele strives to address specific needs and requests, providing new, quality items to help families sustain themselves for extended periods. Additionally, they function as a mobile hub, bridging gaps between distribution sites and families in need.

If you wish to support this local group, please consider following their Instagram page for updates on how you can contribute to their ongoing efforts and future needs.
